Where Is the DCM in a 2018 Toyota Sienna?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Where it is

At the far passenger end of the dash, behind the lower glovebox - not next to the radio. Take out the lower glovebox and look up and to the right of the opening: the module sits up high against the dash frame with its connector facing you (see the photo below). The DCM label reads Toyota part number 86741; if the module you are looking at does not say 86741, it is not the DCM.

How to get to it

Toyota does not publish a DCM removal procedure for this van, but you do not need one to find the module: take out the lower glovebox and the DCM is visible up high at the right of the opening. Check a service manual for your exact model year if you want the trim steps in print.

No SOS button near the rear-view mirror or overhead console means the vehicle was built without Safety Connect - there is no DCM to bypass and this kit is not needed.
