Toyota Vehicle - Telematics DCM Bypass kit
Item Number: AHH-DCM77
Disconnecting the Data Communication Module (DCM) on a Toyota vehicle will disconnect the front right speaker and disconnect power from your OEM handsfree microphone. Many customers would like to remove the DCM for security reasons and some vehicles have noted failures in this module causing unnecessary battery drain when the vehicle is not running. We have designed this adapter kit specifically for the purpose of removing the DCM module. These connectors will plug into the connectors that currently plug into the DCM module and retain the factory functions. This kit effectively rewires these vehicles so that they are wired the same as a vehicle that was not shipped with the DCM module. Most of your vehicles safety features and Navigation options will not be impeded by installing this adapter but you may lose features that depend on communication with Toyota. An example will be the cloud-based/phone app factory remote start. Since this system requires an internet connection with Toyota to communicate the start signal to your vehicle, it will be disabled when that signal path is removed. In addition, Call Toyota functions will not work. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have specific concerns.
Installation:
DCM Module Location by Vehicle:
| Vehicle | DCM Location |
|---|---|
| Toyota 4Runner | Located to the right of the headunit, between the headunit and the glovebox. Visible from the glovebox cavity. |
| Toyota Camry | Sandwiched on top of the headunit, approximately 6 inches from the headunit. |
| Toyota Corolla | Access requires removing the AC controls and center vents. This involves removing the center dash panel and the cover underneath that has the USB ports, as well as the two kick panels that flank the middle channel in the footwells. Radio removal may also be necessary. |
| Toyota Prius Prime | Located under the radio cavity. |
| Toyota RAV4 | Located behind the lower center instrument panel. |
| Toyota Tundra | Located to the left side of the steering wheel, behind the switch panel near the driver's left knee. |
1) Find the DCM module (see table above for vehicle-specific locations).
2) Turn off the vehicle and disconnect one pole of the battery if you wish.
3) Disconnect all connectors from the DCM module, including the square white/off-white module and the longer gray connector.
4) Plug in the adapters in this kit.
5) Reassemble everything. Reconnect the battery. Install the DCM fuse (needed for powering the handsfree microphone). Start the vehicle and test!
