Where Is the DCM in a 2023 Toyota RAV4?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Short answer

Behind the centre dash, under the radio and climate controls.

Straightforward - lower centre trim panel and the climate control assembly out, then two bolts.

Where it is

In the centre stack behind the dash, below the radio and display receiver and directly behind the air conditioning control assembly. It is bolted to a bracket, so it comes out as an assembly rather than unclipping on its own.

How to get to it

Take off the lower centre instrument panel finish panel, then the air conditioning control assembly. The DCM is behind it on a bracket, held by two bolts torqued to 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft*lbf) - undo those and the module and bracket come out together. No airbag work.

No SOS button near the rear-view mirror or overhead console means the vehicle was built without Safety Connect - there is no DCM to bypass and this kit is not needed. The 2026 RAV4 uses a different connector again (90980-12G67) and takes neither AHH-DCM77 nor AHH-DCM92 - contact us for that model year.

The bypass harness for this vehicle

Our bypass kit disconnects the DCM without losing your front right speaker or the hands-free Bluetooth microphone — the two things that stop working if you simply unplug the module.
