Where Is the DCM in a 2023 Toyota RAV4?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Short answer

Behind the centre stack, up with the radio/display module.

Straightforward - lower centre trim panel and the climate control assembly out, then two bolts.

Where it is

Behind the centre stack, bolted between the two multi-media module brackets - it hangs off the radio and display module's own mounting structure rather than sitting on its own, so it is higher up than the climate controls. You reach it from below, but do not expect to find it down at the climate control level.

How to get to it

Come at it from below. Take off the lower centre instrument panel finish panel, then the air conditioning control assembly - that opens up the centre stack. The DCM is above that, on the multi-media module brackets. The bracket assembly is held into the car by two bolts at 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft*lbf); the DCM itself is held to its brackets by small screws at 3.0 N*m (31 kgf*cm, 27 in*lbf). No airbag work.

No SOS button near the rear-view mirror or overhead console means the vehicle was built without Safety Connect - there is no DCM to bypass and this kit is not needed. The 2026 RAV4 uses a different connector again (90980-12G67) and takes neither AHH-DCM77 nor AHH-DCM92 - contact us for that model year.
