Where Is the DCM in a 2019 Toyota Corolla?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Short answer

Behind the centre dash, directly below the radio.

Straightforward - head unit out plus a trim panel or two, no airbag work.

Where it is

In the centre stack behind the dash, immediately below the radio and display receiver assembly.

How it sits: It stands upright with its long edge horizontal - the large flat face points back toward the driver.

How to get to it

Pull the head unit and, if it is in the way, the climate-control trim below it. On the closely related Corolla Cross the factory procedure is just the lower centre finish panel, after which the module unbolts with its bracket - the sedan, hatchback, hybrid and GR are the same basic job.

No SOS button near the rear-view mirror or overhead console means the vehicle was built without Safety Connect - there is no DCM to bypass and this kit is not needed. THE COROLLA IS THE ONE WE GET WRONG MOST OFTEN, so please read this before ordering. Toyota changed the DCM connector during the 2020 model year, and the cut-off is the BUILD DATE on the sticker in the driver door jamb - not the model year on your title. Built before April 2020: you need the AHH-DCM92 (white connector). Built April 2020 or later: you need the AHH-DCM77 (grey, flat connector). We have seen 2020 Corollas built as early as April 2019, and those take the older kit. On the 2019 cars only the Hatchback has a DCM at all - the 2019 sedan is the previous generation and has none. If in doubt, send us your build date or a photo of the connector and we will tell you which one to order.

The bypass harness for this vehicle

Our bypass kit disconnects the DCM without losing your front right speaker or the hands-free Bluetooth microphone — the two things that stop working if you simply unplug the module.

This vehicle takes one of two harnesses. Built BEFORE April 2020, the connector is white and you need the AHH-DCM92. Built APRIL 2020 or later, it is grey and flat and you need the AHH-DCM77. The build date is on the sticker in the driver door jamb - go by that, not the model year on your title.
