Where Is the DCM in a 2010 Lexus LX570?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Short answer

In the centre console, toward the rear.

Should be straightforward - one trim panel from the back seat, no dash work and no airbag work - but we have confirmed the teardown on the Land Cruiser twin rather than on an LX570. Ask us before you plan the job.

DCM location photo - Lexus LX570 — Start here, sitting in the back seat. This is the rear face of the centre console: the panel carrying the rear air vents and the rear climate controls is the one that comes off, and the DCM is directly behind it.

Where it is

Inside the centre console toward the REAR - and you reach it FROM THE BACK SEAT, not from the front. The module is mounted on the BACK of the cooler box, facing rearward, behind the console's rear face panel (the one carrying the rear air vents and the rear climate controls). Nothing in the dash has to come apart, and there is nothing to find from the front of the console. The module behind the head unit is the multi-media receiver, which is easy to mistake for the DCM once the stack is apart. What you are looking for is a plain silver box with its label facing you, reading TRANSCEIVER, TELEMATICS above a Toyota part number starting 86741. The suffix after 86741 varies between trucks of the same model year - we have seen both 86741-75012 and 86741-33020 on 2013s - so go by the 86741 prefix and the wording, not the full number. If the label does not say 86741, it is not the DCM.

How to get to it

Work from the BACK SEAT. The rear face of the centre console - the panel carrying the rear air vents and the rear climate controls - comes off, and the DCM is on the back of the cooler box directly behind it, label facing you. Do not start at the front of the console and do not take the dash apart. This route was confirmed by two owners on the LX570's Land Cruiser twin, which shares this console; the module position on the LX570 itself is read from Toyota's own figures and matches. The photos below are of a Land Cruiser. Ask us before you plan the job if anything in your truck looks different.

No SOS button near the rear-view mirror or overhead console means the vehicle was built without Safety Connect - there is no DCM to bypass and this kit is not needed.
