Where Is the DCM in a 2021 Lexus IS300 / IS350 / IS500?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Short answer

Behind the instrument (gauge) cluster - not in the centre stack with the radio..

Extensive - the module sits behind the gauge cluster, so the cluster has to be removed. The most involved DCM job we list.

Where it is

The module sits behind the gauge cluster binnacle, tucked in behind the instrument panel on the driver side. It is not in the centre stack next to the radio, which is where most other Lexus models of this era put it.

How to get to it

The instrument cluster has to come out to reach it, so this is an extensive job - you are working behind the dash on the driver side rather than through the centre stack. Set aside a good part of a day, or price a shop before you start.

No SOS button near the rear-view mirror or overhead console means the vehicle was built without Safety Connect - there is no DCM to bypass and this kit is not needed. One thing changes even after a clean install: the vehicle customization menu stays greyed out while the DCM is disconnected. The front speakers and the hands-free microphone keep working with the bypass fitted. If the job sounds like more than you want to take on, email us before ordering rather than after.
