Where Is the DCM in a 2010 Lexus GS350 / GS450h / GS460?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Short answer

Above the glove box, high on the passenger side - on the cars that have Safety Connect.

CHECK FIRST - Safety Connect was an OPTION on the 2010-2011 GS, not standard equipment, so plenty of these cars have no DCM at all. No SOS button in the overhead console means there is nothing to bypass and you do not need this kit. On a car that does have it, the module is straightforward to reach once you know it is above the glovebox rather than beside it.

Where it is

Above the glove box on the passenger side, high up behind the instrument panel, outboard of the centre stack and alongside the right-hand cowl side junction block. Not beside the glovebox, not behind the radio, not in the trunk. Drop the glove box and look ABOVE the opening rather than into it - owners who search at glovebox height conclude it is not there.

How to get to it

First make sure the car has the module at all - see the note below. If it does: drop the glove box and look above the opening. On the later GS, an owner who found it this way called it one of the easier locations to reach once you know it is above the box and not beside it. We do not have Toyota's removal procedure for this generation, so we will not invent a teardown - email us before you go further and we will help you plan it. Safety Connect was optional on this car, not standard - a lot of 2010-2011 GS350, GS450h and GS460 cars were built without it. Look for the SOS button in the overhead console near the rear-view mirror before you order: no button means no DCM, nothing to bypass, and you do not need this kit. On the cars that do have it, where it is NOT: the trunk, under the radio, or the centre console. The position above is read from Toyota's own wiring drawings for the 2010 and 2011 GS350, GS460 and GS450h, which all agree with each other and with the 2013-2020 GS, where an owner confirmed it in person.
