Where Is the DCM in a 2013 Lexus GS350 / GS450h / GS F?

The DCM — the Data Communication Module, part of Safety Connect / Connected Services — is the module our bypass harness plugs into. Finding it is the only tricky part of the install. Pick your vehicle and we will show you where it lives and what has to come apart to reach it.

Not sure whether your vehicle even has one? Look for an SOS or Call Toyota button near the rear-view mirror or in the overhead console. No button means no DCM — and no need for the bypass harness.

Short answer

Above the glove box, high on the passenger side.

Straightforward once you know where to look. The trap is searching at glovebox height and concluding it is not there.

Where it is

Above the glove box on the passenger side, high up behind the dash. Not beside the glovebox, not behind the radio, not in the trunk. It lies horizontally with its connectors facing away from you. Drop the glovebox and look ABOVE the opening rather than into it - owners who search at glovebox height conclude it is not there.

How it sits: It lies flat with its connectors facing away from the opening, so you will not see the plugs from below - that is why it gets missed.

How to get to it

Drop the glovebox and look above the opening. An owner who found it this way called it one of the easier locations to reach once you know it is above the box rather than beside it. We do not have the factory removal procedure for this car, so ask us before you plan anything more involved - and photographs are very welcome, we will publish them here.

No SOS button near the rear-view mirror or overhead console means the vehicle was built without Safety Connect - there is no DCM to bypass and this kit is not needed. Where it is NOT: the trunk (that is the TPMS module and the amplifier), under the radio, and the centre console (that is the SRS airbag ECU). On this generation the 7.5A DCM fuse is in the Engine Room R/B No. 1 under the hood, not in the cabin.
