Subaru BRZ Aftermarket Radio Installation Kits - fits Scion FR-S and Toyota 86

The Subaru BRZ shares its electrical architecture with the Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S, so it uses Toyota-style radio wiring - different from every other Subaru. Every BRZ, FR-S, and 86 uses the same core kit: the main harness, USB adapter, and AM/FM adapter below fit ALL years. The only piece that depends on your car's equipment is the 28-pin harness in step 4 - it is optional for cars without a backup camera or steering wheel audio buttons.

Choosing a head unit: any double-DIN unit fits with the right kit below. Popular picks are Pioneer and Sony Apple CarPlay / Android Auto units, ATOTO Android units (the AM/FM adapter is already included with our ATOTO harnesses), and vehicle-specific Android units like iDoing - check what wiring those include; the USB, AM/FM, and 28-pin adapters below are still the plug and play way to keep your factory features.

1Main harness - every BRZ needs one of these

This connects power, ground, and speakers. Pick the version that matches your new headunit:

Installing another brand (Kenwood, Alpine, JVC, etc.)? Use the Metra 70-1761 ($6), which you will wire to your headunit's harness:

2USB adapter - keep your console USB port

3AM/FM adapter - keep your radio antenna

Skip this step if you chose an ATOTO harness in step 1 - the AM/FM antenna adapter is already included with our ATOTO direct-wire harnesses.

428-pin harness - for cars with a backup camera or steering wheel buttons

The 28-pin harness retains the backup camera, steering wheel button signals (buttons arrived around 2016-2017), auxiliary input, reverse gear signal, vehicle speed signal, and e-brake signal. If your car has none of these features, you can skip this harness.

Using the steering wheel buttons with your new headunit also requires a steering wheel control interface module - email us with your headunit choice and we will confirm the right setup (Maestro SW for the Subaru BRZ, AXSWC-2 for the Toyota 86).

If your car has the factory navigation unit, the Backup Camera adapter on the navigation-equipped Subaru page applies instead - along with the same main harness, AM/FM, and USB adapters.

52022+ BRZ (and Toyota GR86) - one extra piece

The 2022+ models still use the step 1-3 kit above, plus the 38-pin jumper in place of the 28-pin harness:

These models need a modified version of our AM/FM antenna adapter instead of the standard one - email us for details.
