Installing a Pioneer/Sony/Kenwood/Alpine or other aftermarket headunit in your vehicle? These harnesses maintain many of the features of your stock unit, including connecting your stock backup camera to your new aftermarket headunit. Below is the set of harnesses that connect to the factory wiring harness on a 2016-2022 Subaru (also fits the 2015 Legacy and Outback, the 2015-2023 Crosstrek and Impreza, the 2016-2024 Forester, and the 2022-2025 Forester Wilderness, which kept this generation's electronics through 2025). These harnesses will provide wire connections for an aftermarket headunit without splicing wires or cutting the factory harness.
The backup camera interface will provide 6 vdc to your backup camera for power and will also provide the video signal to the aftermarket headunit.
Adding Apple CarPlay or Android Auto? Installing an aftermarket head unit is the way to get it in a WRX, Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, or Impreza of this generation - these harnesses work the same with CarPlay/Android Auto units from Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, and Alpine. Installing an iDoing, Seicane, ATOTO, or other Android head unit? Same kit: the 28-pin harness plus the Metra 70-1761 (or our direct wire adapters) provide every connection the Android unit needs - backup camera, steering wheel buttons, power, and speakers.
28-pin Harness:
The 28-pin harness will retain:
-Backup camera functionality
-Auxiliary inputs(***Analog audio input only. USB is not included***)
-Reverse Gear Signal
-Vehicle Speed Signal
-E-brake Signal
-Steering Wheel control signals will be provided via a connector for the Maestro SW. Integration will require an iDatalink Maestro or similar steering wheel control integration unit. (The AXXESS AXSWC-2 is not recommended for this application - More Info) The Maestro SW will be plug and play!
Need a 3.5mm cable for your steering wheel controls? If your headunit has the capability to recognize the steering wheel controls without an interface module, such as the iDatalink Maestro, you may need a cable to connect between the 3.5mm jack on the headunit and the 28-pin harness. The 3.5mm jack for connecting to the back of the new headunit can be purchased HERE.

Option 3 (Upgrade with E-brake bypass): Direct wire harness for Pioneer Headunits - With Parking Brake Bypass Module The AHH-70-1761 harness is the simplest way to install a Pioneer headunit in your Subaru. It is pre-wired with the Pioneer connector on 1 end and the Subaru connector on the other. This will save you lots of soldering! If you are installing an ATOTO headunit: A6PF, S8MS & S8 Lite adapter HERE - standard S8 & F7 adapter HERE. The ATOTO direct wire harnesses already include the AM/FM antenna adapter, so you can skip the AM/FM adapter below.
USB retention harness:
The USB retention harness will retain the USB port in the console.

The AM/FM antenna adapter will retain the AM/FM radio antenna. Installing an ATOTO headunit? Skip this - the AM/FM adapter is already included with our ATOTO direct wire harnesses.
