Why is the AXXESS ASWC-1 not recommended for my vehicle?

The ASWC-1 does not interface well with the 2016+ Subarus (as well as the 2015 Crosstrek and Impreza). The automatic programming of this module has worked well for older Subaru vehicles but with the change in steering wheel controls to the Starlink style controls, the unit does not function properly.

The programming instructions provided by AXXESS don't work. Normally, the ASWC-1 will behave as if it is programmed but upon completion will continuously send a "Volume Up" signal to the aftermarket unit until the car is turned off or the user addresses it in some other way. We've had dozens of customers that have tried to get it working and none have been able to get 100% functionality (there's always at least 1 button that doesn't function properly).

We don't recommend the AXXESS ASWC-1 because we haven't been able to reliably support it. If you decide that you want to try it, we can wire it per the recommended AXXESS wiring.

What do we recommend instead of the AXXESS ASWC-1?

The Maestro SW is the better choice for this vehicle. The 28-pin adapter that we sell is already wired with the connector for the Maestro SW so you won't need to do any wiring. You'll just plug the Maestro SW into our 28-pin harness and connect the cable that goes between the Headunit and the Maestro SW (This cable comes with the Maestro SW). We do not carry the Maestro SW on AutoHarnessHouse.com but you can buy the Maestro SW module on Amazon here: Link
