Plug and Play Aftermarket Headunit Adapter for installing pre-2012 Toyota vehicles with JBL audio system)

If your vehicle has the JBL audio system, there is a specific set of wiring that will be needed when replacing or upgrading the factory audio system. The JBL audio headunit and the stock JBL amp are closely linked, so we must use the AXXESS AXTO-TY1 module to connect your new equipment to the existing JBL amplifier. Depending on the specifics of your vehicle and the headunit that you're installing, you may also need an AXXESS ASWC-1 to retain the steering wheel buttons. Here is an outline of the parts required for each case:
- If you are installing a Sony headunit, ATOTO headunit, or another Android headunit that has steering wheel button learning capability (most android units have this), you WILL NOT need the AXXESS ASWC-1. Our custom adapter will have your steering wheel buttons wired correctly to connect to the headunit directly.
- If you are installing a Pioneer headunit, Kenwood, BOSS, Jenson, or a Sony headunit that does not have steering wheel button learning capability (most Sony units have this), you WILL need the AXXESS ASWC-1. Our custom 20-pin adapter will have your steering wheel buttons wired correctly to connect to the AXXESS ASWC-1.
Here is the list of parts that you'll need below for install of each system:
- Pioneer Headunit Install - You will need the AXXESS AXTO-TY1 with Plug and Play Pioneer wiring kit, 20-pin Steering Wheel Control Adapter, and AXXESS ASWC-1
- Sony Headunit Install - You will need the AXXESS AXTO-TY1 with Plug and Play Sony wiring kit, and 20-pin Steering Wheel Control Adapter with 3.5mm connector
- ATOTO Headunit Install - You will need the AXXESS AXTO-TY1 with Plug and Play ATOTO wiring kit with 20-pin Steering Wheel Control wiring
- Generic Android Headunit Install - You will need the AXXESS AXTO-TY1 with Plug and Play Generic wiring kit with 20-pin Steering Wheel Control wiring. We will need you to provide more information on the unit that you're installing so that we build the correct part - Lead time is about 7 days.
In addition to these parts, you will need a vehicle specific backup camera adapter if you have a backup camera that you plan to retain. We will build this into the plug and play AXTO-TY1 wiring if it is included in your order!
AXTO-TY1 - With Plug and Play wiring kit
The AXTO-TY1 with Plug and Play Wiring will include everything you need to connect your OEM JBL amplifier and power connections to your new radio unit without splicing any wires. The picture here shows wire leads, but when you order from us, we will splice any wiring needed for you so that it will be a fully plug and play adapter, custom built for the equipment that you plan to install!

If you are installing a Sony headunit and your vehicle has steering wheel buttons, check to see if your Sony headunit has a menu where steering wheel button functions can be programmed. Almost all Sony touchscreen units have this (please email us at inquiry@autoharnesshouse.com if you need clarification). This 20-pin adapter will have your steering wheel buttons wired correctly for a Sony unit that has this function.

Parts needed to install an ATOTO or a Generic Andriod headunit
When you're installing an ATOTO or a Generic Andriod headunit, the 20-pin wiring for the steering wheel buttons is build into the Plug and Play adapter for the AXTO-TY1 (purchase link above). You won't need any additional parts to connect the steering wheel buttons. There is an on-screen menu on these headunits that will allow you to program the function of each steering wheel button. If you need assistance with this, please email us at inquiry@autoharnesshouse.com. Also, if you need only the 20-pin connector with wires for the steering wheel buttons, (you do not need the plug and play wiring sold above), then we can sell the 20-pin connector as an isolated part to fit your needs. Installation:
Install the harness
-Verify that the vehicle is off.
-Carefully remove the plastic cover around the head unit and unscrew/unbolt as appropriate. Disconnect and remove the stock headunit.
-Connect the connectors on the AutoHarnessHouse.com harness to the corresponding connectors on the vehicle's wiring harness.
-Connect the red and white RCA connectors to the auxiliary audio input connector on the headunit (if applicable)
-Connect the 3.5mm plug to the "Remote wired input" plug on the back of the unit.
Configure the steering wheel controls (on the headunit screen or using the AXXESS ASWC-1 as appropriate)
